Where is Our Money Going?
by jamesmacdonaldmustresign
I am outraged. Harvest claims they are transparent, but now they are refusing to publish the weekly giving and need reports that they have always published. They stopped putting it in the bulletin to save on costs of bulletins, fine. Then they put it online, but they are not putting it online anymore and I cannot get anyone to answer my questions about this. And now I’m getting an email through Walk in the Word asking for a special gift because they are a million in the hole. This is hypocrisy. If you want my money tell me what is happening.
I don’t want to be a jerk, but this is the same thing they have always done.
In December, they take the yearly stuff out and put a goal towards year end. At least 5 years it has been the same way.
Thanks for getting the numbers back up. I think that’s just a more honest way to go. It does not solve all the problems we are seeing but it’s a start.
can you provide a link to the current finances?
Believers need to get into the Word and quit empowering the “hirelings.” If you give money to Mr. Macdonald, his house will get bigger. How many people “tithe” or “pay” a pastor to teach them without having searched the Scriptures to make sure it is even commanded?
Becky is SO right! What does the Bible really instruct Christians to do with their money? Hint; it sure doesn’t instruct them to give 10% of their gross income to the local church. Can’t Christians think for themselves? In desperation, guys who get paid out of the collection basket will evidently say just about anything to get “their” money out of “your” pocket.
Christians, listen to the Bible. If your local preacher says something that contradicts the Bible, don’t believe their spin-doctored explanation.
Two examples, and names will be revealed upon request. One pastor reads Malachi 3:10, then feels he needs to tell us what it means. It means God will meet our needs, according to the tithe-monger. Really? That’s opposite of what is written! But that’s the kind of dung, as Paul would say, that gets dished out.
Another pastor, who actually argued that the tithe wasn’t mandatory, PTL, then stated that if you choose to give based on the principle of tithing, somewhere, sometime, you will be blessed.
Again more pure dung. That teaching is NOT in the Bible. But he DOES want your money.
Way to go Becky!! Tithing is so unbiblical. Can Christians actually read the Bible? Christians, ask yourself; Do the teachings on tithing from those who get paid out of the collection basket actually make sense? Here’s a good way to spot a false teaching; Does the Bible actually say what the teacher says it does? How simple.
Look up everything the Bible says, not what the tithemonger says, about tithing. You will be surprised.
By the way, why don’t tithe teachers ever talk about Jacob’s tithing?
(In 2002, I not only stopped tithing, I stopped giving ANYTHING to the local church. I give to a mission that houses the homeless, clothes the naked, feeds the hungry. My conscience is VERY clear, and I sleep very well at night.)
